21 dogs left in parked vehicle

HONOLULU (AP) — Police have seized 21 dogs that were left caged inside a parked car in Waikiki.

Honolulu police have initiated an animal cruelty case against the 68-year-old mother of a dog breeder.

Kat Linker says she was out for a walk Thursday night at Ala Wai Boat Harbor when she spotted the animals inside a Honda Fit.

Linker, of Waikiki, says all the windows were up and some dogs were running around in the car.

Authorities have not cited the driver, who had taken the dogs without permission.

A veterinarian with the Hawaiian Humane Society says all the canines are in good condition. Authorities say because of a law prohibiting more than 10 dogs per household, the animals will be split up.

Singer allegedly choked woman

HONOLULU (AP) — A Honolulu musician is facing charges after allegations he choked his girlfriend and tried to stab her.

Kaipo Kapua, 26, was charged Saturday morning with one count of second-degree assault, one count of abuse of a family or household member and two counts of terroristic threatening.

According to police records, Kapua was arrested just before 2 a.m. Friday in Kahaluu.

Authorities say his girlfriend, who is believed to be living with him, went to police to report her injuries.

Police say he is accused of putting a kitchen knife to her neck and preventing her from leaving the home. Police also say she ended up with a cut on her leg and was later treated at a hospital and released. Bail is set at $50,000.

Man killed in Oahu car crash

HONOLULU (AP) — Authorities say a 26-year-old Waialua man is dead after a highway crash involving three cars.

Police responded Friday night to Farrington Highway east of Laaloa Street after reports of a man driving a Honda had hit two cars.

According to police, the 26-year-old clipped a Mercedes and then crossed over the median, broadsiding another vehicle. Emergency responders say the man was in critical condition before being pronounced dead an hour later at a hospital.

Police did not give any details about the condition of the other two drivers. Police say this is the 46th traffic fatality this year.
